TAXES
Let us not look to the government to solve the problems that the government has created.
Good intentions are no excuse to continue a failed policy.
The Diagnosis:
Our current tax system is unfair, complex, wasteful, confusing and costly. Why would anyone want to perpetuate something that system?
In 2008 our current tax code was over 67,500 pages and Americans spent over 300 billion dollars to comply with the tax code each year. It is also estimated that we come up 350 billion dollars short in collection of what is due the government, some from cheating but most from just the confusing nature of the laws. If you had the money and time and took your tax information to 10 different accountants and tax preparers, you would probably get 10 different versions of what you owe.
This tax code punishes achievement. The more you make the more they take. The harder you work the more you are punished, by having your hard earned money taken and given to more and more people who do not work. The tax code in its current form is also used to reward some and punish others. It is to the point of driving businesses and manufacturing out of this country, which hurts all Americans.
Another travesty, is the mandatory withholding. As a small business owner, I see this every two weeks when I do payroll. But it is invisible to those receiving their pay stub. They have no clue what they are giving of their labor to this government. I just hear them talk about how big their refunds are! That is their money the government is returning and not something for nothing.
The Rx:
We really need to push for throwing this out and starting over. There are several alternatives out there two of these are:
1. The Flat Tax
